In our modern world where the internet of things and inter-connectivity continue to drive many aspects of our personal and professional lives, the demand for qualified information security professionals continues to rise. Information Security professionals are typically responsible for maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information, with preparedness to ensure information remains uncompromised should critical situations arise.
Our Information Security program is designed to prepare students for a professional career in this growing industry. As a post graduate diploma, individuals who hold a certificate, diploma, or degree related to Information Technology, or have equivalent industry experience are eligible to apply.
Located in the charming Exchange District, in Winnipeg, this program takes place at our Roblin Centre Campus with content delivery to your personal laptop.
About Our Program
The Information Security program will provide students with the theory and experience required to analyze, evaluate, manage and respond to today’s most complex information security issues. Students will learn the fundamentals of designing and analyzing robust personal, enterprise and web-based IT security systems. Students graduating from this program will be well positioned to enter into and succeed in the information security field in Manitoba and worldwide.
Students will cover areas of: security fundamentals, hardware and management; risk management; sharpening communication and collaboration skills; applying cryptography principles; identifying vulnerabilities; implementing security solutions, and more. Professional development workshops are structured into the program to help guide students to their individual professional goals, polish their self-promotion materials, and develop professional relationship building skills.
This program is delivered at the Roblin Centre Campus on Princess Street. Students are eligible for their co-operative work experience or industry project after completing their first three academic terms.
Professional Employment Potential
Typical employment areas include both profit, non-profit, and government organizations that use information systems as well as large and small information technology, telecommunications, and multimedia product and service providers. Graduates can expect to work in a variety of capacities including: project management to implement security solutions; convey information with varying levels of technical knowledge; ensure proper security frameworks; identify vulnerabilities; manage security tools; develop risk analyses and respective solutions.
