COMMUNITY

Outreach

Here in the Applied Computer Education Department, we believe in giving back and service to the community. Whether you are with an organization or a school, we strive to help our counterparts in the community promote STEAM education and activities for all.

Join us at our Technology Camps

Each spring, the Applied Computer Education Department offers Technology Camps to high-school students of all genders, and to middle-school girls. These camps, run out of our Exchange District Campus,  are free for students to attend.*

Day in the Life of an I.T. Student

Age Group: High School (grades 9-12)
When: May 2019 – Date To Be Announced
Where: Red River College Exchange District Campus, 160 Princess St.

The Day in the Life of an IT Student Technology Camp gives high school students (grades 9-12) hands on experience with fun activities based on the Business Information Technology program.

Students will work their way through four sessions to build a simple web-based application:

  • Web Development – build a simple web page
  • Database – add a database to the web page to store information more easily
  • Networking – put your web page on the network. View the pages created by your classmates
  • Web Security – find and fix security holes in your web page

We typically offer a choice of one of two days. Content for the two available dates is similar, but each day is tailored to meet the differing abilities of your students. We want your students to be challenged appropriately so they can have a fun and rewarding day. Please select a date that will provide the best possible experience for your students.
